Help Mark and Team Bowra help brain injury survivors drive their rehabilitation.
Founded by Lt Col Mark Bowra MBE in 2019 during his own rehabilitation from stroke, Bowra Foundation supports brain injury survivors through practical help and physical challenges alongside members of the Armed Forces community.
The foundation achieves Mark’s aim through two main activities:
Building on his own experiences, Mark devised the Bowra Bag to give to brain injury survivors with their rehabilitation. It is a backpack containing physiotherapy equipment, drawing and writing kits as well as practical tools to regain independence such as easy-tie shoe laces and a Knork – a combined knife and fork that enables you to eat using one hand.
Bowra Foundation provides a unique opportunity for people living with brain injury to change their perceptions of their own ability through participating in activities such as hillwalking, adaptive cycling and surfing in a safe environment, supported by some of the UK’s most inspiring veterans, many of whom have sustained life-changing injuries themselves.
Next up! Mark and members of Team Bowra are participating in the Superhero Series Winter Wonderwheels Event at Dorney Lake. They will be so grateful for your support – read their stories here:
