Collection Pot partners with Town & City Gift Cards to boost local businesses

Collection Pot is taking its group gifting platform nationwide to boost locked-down high streets hit by the coronavirus crisis.

In a new and natural partnership with Town & City Gift Cards, Collection Pot is now giving local and national high street retailers the opportunity to attract new customers – and reward existing ones – by linking into the already successful local currency of Town & City Gift Cards.

Collection Pot brings its expertise in group collection of funds for workplace recognition events, plus community projects, family celebrations and special occasions. Town & City Gift Cards operates in more than 40 regions, covering hundreds of stores in each area, including major national chains with high local profiles such as Marks and Spencer.

Over 5,000 national and independent businesses are registered to accept Town & City Gift Cards across the network and the programme has already delivered more than £2 million of local spend since its launch in Perth in 2015.

Town & City Gift Card programmes are designed to lock in additional spend for participating business communities, drive footfall into town centres, encourage discovery of new businesses and stimulate additional economic activity.

The new partnership now allows funds collected via the dedicated Town & City Collection Pot platform to be loaded to a Mastercard-backed gift card.

Recipients of the cards will then be able spend them in local businesses including restaurants, cafes, shops, salons, attractions, and leisure and entertainment enterprises.

Miconex Managing Director Colin Munro said: ‘Miconex and Collection Pot working together makes so much sense, and together we can provide new ways for people to support their local business communities. At times like this we all need to work together to do what we can to collaborate, innovate and keep moving forward.’

He added: ‘This new partnership enables people to join forces to give a great gift to their friends and family while also showing their support for their local businesses.’

Collection Pot CEO Wendy Carter said: ‘Supporting local businesses at this difficult time is absolutely crucial. Getting together a group of friends or work colleagues “virtually” to create an online collection for a special birthday, job leaver, or simply to say thank you, using Collection Pot is already quick and easy, so widening the options to include gift cards to spend in your local high street is a natural extension which will also have far-reaching benefits to the local community.’

The new platform will be live on 1 May 2020.
