Partnership launches to crowdfund for key workers & support local economies

Collection Pot has taken its group collecting platform UK wide to boost locked-down high streets and to support local care workers hit by the coronavirus crisis.
In a new and natural partnership with Town & City Gift Cards, Collection Pot is now giving local and national high street retailers the opportunity to attract new customers – and reward existing ones – by linking into the already successful local currency of Town & City Gift Cards.

Bringing to market at a critical time the ability for local communities and individuals to collect money online and then load the funds onto a local Town and City MasterCard prepaid card to spend in local businesses.

Participating towns and cities cover the all four quarters of the UK, and including Perth, Sheffield, Cardiff, Strabane, York and Edinburgh to name just a few.

This new proposition enables people to collect money for care workers to say thank you for everything they are doing right now.

Miconex developed the first UK Mastercard Town and City Prepaid Card programme in 2015 and has since gone on to work with 40+ UK towns and cities to deliver local currency programmes, becoming specialists in the use of closed-loop, private-label prepaid currencies. The MasterCard prepay programmes are designed to lock in spend for participating businesses, drive footfall, encourage advocacy and stimulate additional economic activity.

Collection Pot provides an innovative way for an individual to set up an online collection pot for any occasion including birthdays, anniversaries, new arrivals and of course to say thank you.

Wendy Carter, CEO of Collection Pot, said: “Our partnership with Miconex and the Town & City Gift Card programme is something we are very proud of. The use of Collection Pot to enable friends and families to help support their local businesses, key workers and the wider community is fantastic. She added: “We are delighted to see so many great UK towns and cities coming on board and we would encourage more to join.”

Colin Munro, Miconex managing director, said: “Miconex and Collection Pot working together makes so much sense. At times like this we all need to do what we can to help, we need to collaborate, innovate and provide resources to support local communities.

“This new partnership enables people to join forces to support key workers and volunteers as well as providing friends and family with a great gift that shows their support for their local businesses, at a time when local businesses are working hard to adapt and support the community.”
